About NTUC

Northern Tanzania Union Conference (NTUC)

The Northern Tanzania Union Conference (NTUC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church covers the northern and western regions of the United Republic of Tanzania. This expansive territory includes the Mara, North-East Tanzania, South Nyanza, and Western Tanzania Conferences, stretching from Tanga in the east to Kigoma in the west—representing approximately 50% of the country’s land area.

This region also encompasses the Lake Zone, home to Lake Nyanza (Victoria) and the source of the Nile River. Rich in natural beauty, Northern Tanzania is renowned as Africa’s most celebrated safari destination, featuring iconic landmarks such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and the lesser-known but breathtaking Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks.

Administrative Structure and Growth

As of August 2025, NTUC comprises nine administrative units:

  • Four Conferences: Mara, North-East Tanzania, South Nyanza, and Western Tanzania
  • Five Fields: Tanzania Rift Valley, Nyanza Gold Belt, North Mara, North-West Tanzania, and Simiyu River

Together, these entities form a vibrant and united network of believers committed to fulfilling the Church’s mission in harmony with the world Church’s “I Will Go” initiative.

By God’s grace, the Union continues to experience remarkable growth. As of 2025, NTUC oversees:

  • 3,215 organized churches
  • Baptized membership of approximately 850,230
  • Serving a population of over 32 million people

This increase reflects the power of the Holy Spirit working through faithful members engaged in Total Member Involvement, reaching hearts, transforming lives, and preparing people for the soon return of Jesus Christ.

Institutions and Services

NTUC also supports the work of the Church through a number of educational and health institutions, which play a vital role in the Union’s evangelistic and social outreach:

Educational Institutions:

  • University of Arusha – Providing Christ-centered higher education
  • Arusha Adventist College – Preparing students for service in the church and society

Healthcare Institutions:

  • Heri Adventist Hospital

These institutions are part of the Union’s commitment to Christ’s method of ministry—mingling with people, showing sympathy, meeting their needs, and inviting them to follow Him.
